The key to maximizing your German cockroach treatment protocol is thoroughly understanding the biology and behavior of this pest.
An effective way to analyze the behavior of German cockroaches is through tools like zone monitors, which are particularly important when dealing with small infestations.
You can make effective use of these monitors in three ways:
- Place them throughout the account in inconspicuous areas. This will help pinpoint small infestations that are sometimes difficult to locate.
- Use them to identify harborage locations. If early-instar nymphs are captured on your sticky trap monitors, you are close to a primary harborage area because they generally don’t forage very far. Use gel baits in cracks and crevices in these areas to maximize control and avoid disturbing the population.
- Identify the size of the population to determine your control strategy. Based on the number of cockroaches detected, use the appropriate volume of gel bait according to label directions.
