Cockroach control requires strategic expertise, blending knowledge of species behavior with innovative techniques.
Here are five steps pest management professionals (PMPs) can take to enhance their efforts:
- Thorough inspection. Look beyond surface areas. Use flashlights and mirrors to find infestations in voids, behind appliances and under furniture. Search for droppings, egg cases and smear marks.
- IPM. Combine chemical and non-chemical methods. Educate clients on sanitation and sealing entry points. Emphasize eliminating food, water and clutter to prevent reinfestation.
- Targeted baiting. We suggest using high-quality gel baits in active harborage areas. Rotate formulations to avoid bait aversion and apply sparingly to ensure consumption before drying.
- Residual sprays and dusts. Apply residual insecticides to cracks, crevices and baseboards. Supplement with desiccant dusts in voids and under appliances for long-term results.
- Monitoring and follow-up. Place sticky traps to track infestation levels and confirm treatment success. Schedule follow-ups to assess progress and refine strategies.
Combining these advanced techniques allows PMPs to achieve lasting results with minimal chemical use and reduced environmental impact.
