Mosquitoes aren’t the only blood-feeding arthropods we encounter in backyards. Ticks, while not insects, are arthropods that can vector a variety of pathogens. In fact, ticks are responsible for transmitting more vector-borne diseases to humans than mosquitoes in the U.S.
Applying a microencapsulated pyrethroid with a mist blower can help provide long-term tick control. When applying, use appropriate settings on the mist blower — and stand close to the target area so droplets can penetrate vegetation. While there are some differences between mosquito and tick programs, a mist blower can help get both jobs done.
